Montgomery County, MD, has recently approved a new development in downtown Silver Spring that will boost the area’s transit-oriented residential supply and further the community’s ambitious revitalization efforts.
Silver Spring Metro LLC, of which the Foulger-Pratt Companies is a partner, is set to enter into a land lease agreement with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) to develop a mixed-use complex over the Silver Spring Transit Center. The center is planned as a major transit hub for the area, with an anticipated 97,000 people served per day by 2020. The air rights development will include two residential towers with 420 units, 25,000 square feet of retail space, and a 200-room hotel.
The smart-growth development had previously received approval to proceed with preliminary engineering from the Federal Transit Administration, based on an environmental assessment. Silver Spring Metro LLC has selected the Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Partnership, a nationally renowned design firm, as the architect for the project.
Established in 1963, Foulger-Pratt is one of the Washington region’s most experienced and diverse real estate firms. The award-winning organization offers development, construction, asset management, and property management services. Foulger-Pratt is headquartered in Rockville, MD.
