FOULGER-PRATT TO DEVELOP AND
CONSTRUCT
NEW WALMART
FIRST LOCATION FOR RETAILER IN WASHINGTON DC
Rockville, MD (August 8, 2012) - The Foulger-Pratt Companies have finalized details for development and construction of the first Walmart store to be located in Washington, DC. The new Walmart will be located in Ward 4 at the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Missouri Avenue in Northwest Washington. The 106,000 square foot retail center will offer a full grocery store as well as general merchandise, parking for 349 cars and a loading dock.
During design and planning, Foulger-Pratt worked very closely with officials from Walmart and the District of Columbia, including Ward 4 Councilmember Muriel Bowser. Additionally, Foulger-Pratt pledged to provide job opportunities for local businesses, and has already hosted open house events to meet with local Ward 4 business representatives and subcontractors.
Bryant Foulger, Managing Principal of Foulger-Pratt remarked: "It is exciting to be involved with bringing Walmart into a new area, especially considering their world-wide market reach already established. The new Walmart will not only provide an economical retail option for local residents, but will also provide job opportunities once the store opens."
Construction of the new store began in July 2012 and is slated to be completed in early fall 2013.
