Dick Knapp

Dick Knapp joined Foulger-Pratt in March 2007 and has over 30 years of experience. As Senior Vice President, Mr. Knapp manages the newly formed business unit of Foulger-Pratt Residential, responsible for development, acquisition, and property management of multi-family communities. His portfolio includes over 3,000 units encompassing  the  redevelopment of the Curtis Chevrolet dealership in D.C. and the Ourisman Ford dealership at Montgomery Mall;  The Bennington and Ellsworth communities in Silver Spring; and The Fields at Landmark located in Alexandria, VA.

Prior to Foulger-Pratt,  Mr. Knapp was Senior Vice President of KSI Services, Inc. (Kettler) and a principal of KSI Management Corp. Arriving at the firm in 1989, he started both its multifamily development and property management divisions where he oversaw the acquisition, construction, marketing, and financing of approximately 9,000 units. Product types ranged from affordable to market rate, as well as garden, donut and high rise communities.

Mr. Knapp has received numerous multifamily awards from trade and government groups. These include a Pillars of the Industry Award from NAHB for marketing, a HUD Best Practices Award for renovation and conversion, and Developer of the Year from HAND in 1996 and 1997. In 2006, he won the Property Management Association (PMA) highest honor – the Alvin L. Sussman Award – for career achievement in multifamily development and property management.

Mr. Knapp received a B.A. with honors from Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa, where he has also received recognition for the successful redevelopment of downtown Grinnell, bringing to the CBD a new bookstore, several boutiques, restaurants and loft apartments. He has a Master of City Planning from the University of Pennsylvania, and has lectured widely and published numerous articles on housing, development, and finance issues.
